music for
(tired) mums
the project
Mums on’t’Mic is a monthly, daytime open mic session created by a mum, for mums - with a special shout out to the knackered ones. Whether you want to perform poetry, read prose, sing, or just sit back and listen, you and your little ones are welcome. Each session features a laid-back lineup of local mums, plus a special guest or two.
the point
We believe that mothers deserve access to good music, creative connection and powerful words just as much as anyone else (if not more). But we also know how precious an early night can be. That’s why we host our sessions during the day - naptime-friendly, pro-interruption, and no need to whatsapp the babysitter.
the person
Mums on’t’Mic is the passion project of Mancunian-turned-Melthamer Rebecca. A copywriter by day, she writes poetry, prose and songs by night.
After becoming a mum, she became even more determined to keep the creative juices flowing, whilst exposing her daughter to as much good writing and decent music as possible.
Sometimes, the only way to express the high highs and low lows of motherhood is with pen and paper. It’s our aim to build a platform for a community of mums to come together and pour their heart into describing their experiences through spoken, or sung, word.
